Hello!
My name is Celine-Joy (Celine), a Hong Kong-born Filipina who grew up in New England. I am an interdisciplinary Creative and Designer passionate about bridging the gap between science and broader audiences through visual design, digital media, illustration, and storytelling. With a Bachelor’s in Biology from Suffolk University and experience as a scientist in clinical diagnostics from the Broad Institute of MIT & Harvard, I draw inspiration from my background in the life sciences. In 2024, I earned my Master’s in Knowledge Visualization from Zürich University of the Arts, where my research focused on enhancing patient communication through design, digital media, and scientific illustration.
As a Science Communicator, my goal is to promote science literacy, inspire curiosity, and advance scientific research and its applications. I currently work on projects at the intersection of science, technology, art, and design as a freelancer, in-house designer, and volunteer. Utilizing various methods to communicate science for educational, marketing, and funding purposes. As well as serve as the Creative Director for the upcoming 7th volume of MIT Science Policy Review, focusing on the theme of science policy in a geopolitical context.
Outside of STEM, I enjoy the aesthetics of art, creating visuals and artworks that explore themes of nature, humanity, and the world around us.
